Joseph Hancock was born May 7, 1822 near Cleveland, OH. He married Nancy Bemis on August 31, 1848 in Council Bluffs, IA. They crossed the plains to Utah in 1851 and in the spring of 1854 they arrived in San Bernardino. Hancock was a farmer. Photo of Joseph Hancock at age 93 in 1915. He died July 18, 1924 at the age of 102. He is buried at the Pioneer Cemetery in San Bernardino.
