William A. Seymour was born near Nashville, TN on June 23, 1838. He came with his wife Sarah by ox drawn wagon in 1858 to California. He went back to Iowa in 1861 and joined the 3rd Iowa Cavalry and was mustered out in 1865. They did not return to California until 1904. Seymour died after his wife and is buried at Mt. View Cemetery.
