Urijah Hardin Yager was born in Washington county, KY on April 14, 1818. On August 31, 1845 he married Adeline Downey. In 1849 they traveled to Salt Lake City, UT and then on to San Bernardino in June of 1854. Yager was a farmer and freighter. He served as County Supervisor from 1859 to 1861 and also in 1864, then from 1865 to 1889 Yager served as the County Treasurer. Yager died in San Bernardino on February 3, 1889 and is buried in the San Bernardino Pioneer Cemetery.
