Do you know what that book you checked out from the Library went through to get to the shelf?
→ It starts with each book looked up in the library's computer system.
→ Then it is assigned to a branch or branches.
→ Next the book is given a call number - for fiction it is the author's name, and for nonfiction it is a unique dewey decimal number.
→ Then the book is barcoded to track the book at the library or when it goes home with you.
→ The next step is to stamp the book with the name of the library to which it has been assigned - Feldheym, Rowe, Inghram or Villasenor.
→ Then a spine label is attached.
→ Now a library logo is applied to the book.
→ Hardbacked books are covered in a mylar jacket to protect the dust jacket of the book.
→ Finally the finished product, with any reserve slips for patrons, is placed on specially assigned shelves for delivery to each branch daily.
